MEMBERSHIP FAQ

Here are answers to the most common questions that we get from prospective LA Chapter members. If your question about membership is not answered here or elsewhere on the site, contact the Membership Chair with your questions.

How much does it cost to join?
We offer two EWGA Membership levels to suit your needs. Choose the level that works best for you:

Executive Distinction
Offers you exclusive opportunities to network with other executive women across the Association. Executive-level members have the opportunity to participate in exclusive online discussion groups and attend invitation-only golf events with VIPs at five-star golf resorts during the year.

Classic
Offers a value conscious membership benefit package for those who may just want to try golf or get to know the EWGA better but still includes opportunities to reap the educational, play and enjoyment of membership in the EWGA.

Are there other costs associated with being a member?

As you would expect, each event that you choose to participate in has a fee associated with it. Fees are commensurate with what you'd expect to pay if you went to the course as an individual, with a few dollars added for a prize fund and to cover the Chapter’s costs for arranging the tee times for you.

Do I have to be an 'executive' to join?

No. While EWGA is geared toward career-minded women golfers, being an 'executive' is certainly not a requirement for membership. While most of our members have professional careers of various sorts, others are retired or are homemakers.

Are new golfers welcome?

Absolutely. EWGA- Los Angeles seeks to create a welcoming, non-intimidating environment for women new to golf to learn the game. Formal and informal opportunities are provided for you to learn golf skills, etiquette, and rules.

What are the benefits of becoming a member?

Member benefits range from product and services discounts to great networking opportunities to opportunities for new friendships. Please see our LA Chapter Member Benefits for more information.

Can I join any time of the year?

Yes, membership applications are accepted throughout the year, with annual memberships starting in any month.

Do I have to participate in a certain number of events each year?

No. The events and leagues are what make EWGA, so we hope that you will be an active member, but you are welcome to participate in as many or as few events as you like.

What happens after I join?

Once your application is processed, you will be contacted by someone on the Membership Committee about attending our recommended New Member Orientation. These are hosted at homes of our members and are held at regular intervals throughout the year. These New Member Orientations go into more specific detail about the Los Angeles Chapter, it's events, and the Association, as well as giving you a chance to ask questions. New Member Orientations are also a great opportunity to meet some current and new members. Once a member, you will start receiving all EWGA member materials including the periodic emails announcing events and other information.

Do I need to own my own golfing equipment to join?

Technically no, but all courses require you to have your own assigned clubs and golf bag while playing. Renting them from the course can get expensive. If you want to join, but don't want to make an expensive investment in clubs, starter sets or used sets of golf clubs can be bought for reasonable prices.

Do members have to maintain a USGA handicap?

No. You are not required to maintain a USGA handicap to become a member. An official handicap, however, is required to participate in the EWGA Championship Series and the four competitive Chapter events.

We do think maintaining a handicap is a great idea, as it is a great way to allow you to gauge your progress with your golf skills and to level the playing field when playing with golfers of other skill levels. You may maintain your handicap through the new EWGA Golf Intelligence System, coordinated by the Association and the local Chapter. There is no additional cost for this service. If you don't know what a handicap is or how to get one, visit our Establishing a Handicap page for more information.

I'm not sure I want to join, can I try it out?

You bet! Guests are welcome at most events, usually on a space available basis, with members receiving priority. Guests are not eligible to participate in competitive tournaments or the Chapter Championship, but a for-fun play alternative is available at the Chapter Championship. A prospective member may participate as a guest in either two weekend or league events per season. Contact the coordinator for the particular event if you are interested in participating as a guest.

I'm a current member. How do I renew my membership?

Before your membership expires, you will receive a renewal notice in the mail from the Association. At that time, you can renew via mail, fax or online per the instructions in your renewal mailing.

I'm a current member. How do I update my personal information?

You may update your personal information by going to EWGA.com and accessing the Members Only section and following the instructions.

What is the Members Only section of EWGA.com and how do I access it?

The MEMBERS ONLY area on the EWGA.com website, which is separate from this website, allows member access to protected information such as your personal information, Membership Directory, Leadership Links, and past Par-Tee Line newsletters from Association Headquarters.

To Access the MEMBERS ONLY section of the website: From the Homepage click on MEMBER LOGIN located at the very top of the home page.

Enter your LOGIN (your member number) and PASSWORD (member number followed by your first name - with NO spaces)

Click SIGN ON - your member information will then appear on the left side of the screen

After you login for the first time, you may SAVE or RESET your password. (It is recommended that you reset your password.)

If you cannot remember your password, you may reset it by clicking RESET MY PASSWORD.

If you have any questions about using the Members Only area, there is a HELP section on the Welcome page of EWGA.com or you can send email to webmaster@ewga.com
